McDonalds is up there with Coca-Cola and Disney as one of the few brands to attract a phenomenal international following by collectors. In fact, there are worldwide collector conventions where attendees simply swap McDonalds merchandise. Below are the McDonalds phonecards that have been released by Telecom New Zealand.

McDonalds Sport:
This four-card series, entitled McDonalds Sports Series, features a man snowboarding on an apple pie, a quarter pounder surfer, a Big Mac basketballer and a woman scaling the side of a carton of fries. When burgerlovers frequented any of McDonald's 80 outlets and purchased a Combo meal, they were able to buy one of the $5 PhoneCards for $2.50. Surrounding the McDonalds PhoneCard promotion was one of the biggest media campaigns in New Zealand phonecard history, with the whole campaign worth over $1million.
Produced in August 1995, there were 130,000 of each card distributed.
The price for a 4 card mint set is $US20.
New Zealand Phonecard magazine:
The first issue of the New Zealand Phonecard magazine was launched in August 1995 and to encourage subscription, this $10 commemorative phonecard was given free to the first 5000 readers to take out a year's subscription. The card's image is taken from the magazine's cover. It's release coincided with the distribution of the McDonalds Sports series, and many see it as a 5th card to that series.
